Tom Russell, the internationally acclaimed songwriter, has been painting professionally since 2003. His work was first featured on his record covers, until the demand from music and art fans prompted Russell to offer his art for sale in galleries. His paintings now hang in private collections, five star restaurants, hotels and music venues around the world.
Russell was born in Los Angeles in 1947. He graduated from the University of California with a Master's Degree in Criminology and taught school in Nigeria during the Biafran war, before relocating to Vancouver to begin his musical career singing Hank Williams' songs in skid row bars.
